The AM2 Techflex, designed by legendary shaper Al Merrick of Channel Island Surfboards, is a large sized thruster in the Rake template category. This template features a wide base and refined tip, for the perfect combination of release and drive. The Techflex construction with the flat foil give this fin a stable feel giving it the speed control desired in powerful waves. This setup has a smaller center fin than the side fins for increased maneuverability.

We rode the AM2 in the honeycomb construction in our Fins Spex Project. Here is some info on this template:
AM2 Thruster HC - This is the fin I pretty much put in all my boards initially. It is my go-to! I love this template and more often it works well for me in the boards I ride. The fronts are a different shape and size than the center fin. The fronts are big and raked back with a long base. This gives the template drive. But all the while the tips are narrow which help the fins release and/or go rail to rail easy. The center fin, being smaller, counters all that drive from the fronts by allowing more pivot than if it was a full size fin back there. Templates with smaller center fins turn tighter typically. So with this template it's the best of both worlds pretty much. Watch Episode
