THE DK SURFBOARDS STORY
D.J. Kane, known as DK, has been dedicated to building high-quality surfboards for 20+ years.
Starting from humble beginnings building 100 boards on his parents screened-in porch in Florida, he made the jump 10 days after graduating high school and drove west to San Diego to pursue a career in surfboards.
After cutting his teeth working at some of the Premier glassing factories such as Moonlight Glassing, Diamond Glassing and Global Glassing, he found some shaping work apprenticing under Master Shaper, Rich Pavel. DK now has a rare shaping background, crossing over between the high-performance shortboard world and the high-end alternative board markets.
For the last 12 years, DK has been fortunate enough to learn from Jon Pyzel and work as his Head Shaper in mainland, USA building boards for some of the best surfers in the world. DK was lucky to come into the industry at the right time and build his shaping résumé while previously doing stints working with Channel Islands, Chris Christenson, Steve Boysen, Tom Eberly and Michael Baron to name a few.
