The new Aipa Dark Twinn colab with Surftech and their excellent Dual Core technology is finally here. The Aipa surfing legacy started with Ben and is now continued by Duke Aipa, this model the Dark Twinn features the classic wing template mixed up with a modern hybrid feel.
The Dark Twinn is a performance groveler built for aggressive surfing in smaller, weaker waves. The key design feature here is how the wing position works with the fin placement, its what gives the board its unique, magic spark. Its deigned to be ridden as a twin despite having 3 fin plugs. Single concave under the front foot rolling into double through the fins and then V out of the tail gives the board its lively and drivey feel. What you notice about this board when you first surf it is the speed it generates straight away but also the controlled release into turns, its very precise in that it does excatly what you ask it to do!
The Surftech Dual Core features an EPS epoxy foam core with PU rails, this gives the longevity to performance you get from epoxy but the softer feel you get from PU when pushing into turns. The TPU pop flex stringer dampens the stiffness you get with epoxy really well to give the board even and consistent flex. The Dark Twinn is a brilliant smaller wave option, this surfboard colab between Aipa and Surftech is a winner!
