More Information
The most famous King Midas is popularly remembered in Greek mythology for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold. This came to be called the golden touch, or the Midas touch.
I’m not making any promises about turning anything into gold, but this board will definitely put a smile on your face. The outline of the MIDAS came from a few different influences.
The tail on this outline was inspired by some 80’s twin fins. I put the wing right behind the trailing edge of the side fin to create a breaking point and to be able to pull the tips of the swallow closer together for maneuverability. By adding the wing, it creates some width in front of the fins which i feel is super important in generating speed.
The nose outline is a touch wider than your everyday shortboard but not wide enough to give it an eggy feel. With a wider nose dimension and a wider tail dimension, the middle of the board has less curve in the outline, which helps generate speed.
I’m really excited about sharing the new bottom contours I’ve been working on. I call it “BOARD EAT BOARD” The original concept started years ago when i rode one of George Greenough’s edge boards. It opened my mind to a whole new dimension. I made quite a few boards with different edge designs until i finally changed my approach to this new bottom. The general idea is that you have 2 boards working in your favor. The inside outline creates the perfect opportunity to really get a flat bottom concave that runs all the way off the tail. The 2 two side panels that run down each rail give me the opportunity to change the panels from concave to flat to vee while still maintaining a deep single concave down the middle.
